How can we help?
Quick answers to common questions. If yours isn't here, write to us and a real person will answer.
Lists
How do I make a new list?
Tap the list name at the top of the Shopping tab to open Your lists, then tap New. You can copy the inventory of a list you already have, so you don't start from zero.
How many lists can I have?
You can own up to 5 lists, and you can join as many lists as other people invite you to.
What's the difference between Shopping and Inventory?
Inventory is everything your household buys. Shopping is what you need right now. Tap an item in the inventory, or use Find in inventory on the Shopping tab, to put it on the list.
When you're done at the store, tap Finish shopping and every ticked item goes back to the inventory.
How do I add a note to an item?
On the Shopping tab, tap Add a note under the item, or use the item's menu. Notes are for this trip only, so they clear when you finish shopping.
Can I change categories and stores?
Yes. On the Inventory tab, open Manage categories & stores to add, rename or delete them. You can also press and hold an item and drag it into another group.
Does Sprout work without internet?
Yes. You can keep adding and ticking items offline. Sprout saves your changes on the phone and sends them as soon as you're connected again.
Invites and sharing
How do I invite someone to my list?
Tap the member count under the list name to open Members & invite code. From there you can share the code, show a QR code, or copy it. The other person opens Your lists, taps Join, and types or scans the code.
Only the list's owner can see the invite code.
The invite code doesn't work.
Invite codes work for 24 hours. After that, the owner opens Members & invite code to get a fresh one. Codes are 8 characters and don't use letters that look like numbers, so double-check the ones you typed.
After too many wrong codes, Sprout makes you wait a while before trying again. This protects everyone's lists from guessing.
How do I remove someone, or leave a list?
Owners can remove members from Members & invite code. Sprout then offers a new code so the old one stops working.
Members can tap Leave list on the same screen. If you own the list, you'll see Delete list instead. Deleting removes the list for everyone, so choose Hand over instead if others should keep it.
Templates
What is a template?
A template is a copy of a list's current shopping items, categories and stores that you can pass to anyone. It's a snapshot, so later changes to your list don't change it, and the people who receive it can't see your real list.
How do I share or open one?
To share, open the menu on the Shopping tab and tap Share as template. To open one, go to Templates in Your lists, tap Enter code, and type or scan it. Tap Sprout to turn it into a list of your own.
Template codes don't expire. Deleting a template you shared stops the code from working.
Account and sign-in
I didn't get the confirmation or reset email.
Emails come from sprout-no-reply@mikrodev.net. Check your Spam or Junk folder first, and mark the message as "not spam" so the next one arrives normally.
Still nothing after a few minutes? Tap Resend in the app. Each new link replaces the previous one, so always use the newest email.
I forgot my password.
On the sign-in screen, tap Forgot password? and enter your email. Open the link on the same phone that has Sprout installed, and the app will ask for a new password.
How do I change my name, email or password?
Open the menu on the Shopping tab and tap Account. A new email address needs to be confirmed from both the old and the new inbox before it takes effect.
How do I delete my account?
In the app, open Account and tap Delete account. Sprout tells you exactly what will happen and asks for your password to confirm. You can also request deletion without the app.
If you pay for Plus through the App Store or Google Play, cancel it there first. Deleting your account doesn't stop Apple or Google from billing you.
Sprout Plus
What do I get with Plus?
No ads on any list you use, on every device you sign in on, plus new premium features as they arrive. Just me covers one person. Family covers up to 5 people, each on their own account.
How do I pay?
Open the menu, tap Sprout Plus and choose a plan. You pay through the App Store or Google Play, with the payment method already on your phone. If you bought Plus on the web, that payment was handled by Stripe. Either way, Sprout never sees your card number.
How do I join a family plan?
Ask the person who pays for the family to share their family code. Then open Sprout Plus and tap Have a family code? Join a family. Family codes work for 24 hours, like list invites.
How do I switch plans or cancel?
Bought in the app: Apple and Google manage the subscription. On iPhone, open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions. On Android, open the Play Store, tap your profile, then Payments & subscriptions. You can switch plans or cancel there.
Bought on the web: open Sprout Plus and tap Change plan (family payers use Manage family) to open your Stripe billing page. Plan changes there start right away, and time you've already paid for becomes credit toward the new plan.
If you cancel, Plus keeps working until the end of the period you paid for, and you won't be charged again.
Can I get a refund?
Payments aren't refundable, except where the law requires it. When you cancel, Plus keeps working until the end of the period you already paid for, and you won't be charged again. If you think a charge is wrong, write to us and we'll look into it. Details are in the subscription terms.
I paid but still see ads.
Close Sprout completely and open it again. Plus usually turns on within a minute of paying. Make sure you're signed in with the same account you paid with. If it still doesn't work, write to us with the email on your receipt.
Privacy and data
Who can see my lists?
Only people you invite to a list can see it. They also see your name. Templates show your name and a copy of the items to whoever you share the code with.
Do you sell my data?
No. The free version shows ads from Google AdMob, which uses device information to pick ads. Sprout Plus has no ads. Everything is explained in the privacy policy.
Is Sprout for kids?
Sprout is made for adults and teens who shop for a household. It isn't meant for children under 13, and they shouldn't create an account.
